On Friday, September 10, 2021, STEM Core partner colleges: Santa Ana College, Pasadena City College, and East Los Angeles College hosted a collaboration event, “NET(WORK) IT: Communicating Skills and Competencies through LinkedIn” which featured guest speaker Gabe Lomeli from LinkedIn.

Guest speaker Gabe Lomeli has over 10 years of strategic partnership, media production, and instructional design experience. After graduating from San Jose State University, his career in media began as a music video producer and editor in the Hip-Hop and R&B scene. During this time, he also led professional development workshops at tech-ed conferences as a LEAD Educator for the Adobe Youth Voices program in San Jose, CA. Upon completing his Master's program at Stanford University, Gabriel joined the lecturing team at the School of Design at Stanford University while operating his own media agency, producing videos for Silicon Valley's top technology companies. Currently, he is an Account Manager on the Creative Media Strategy team at LinkedIn in Sunnyvale, California. Kicking off his own academic journey at Delta Community College in his hometown of Stockton, CA, Gabriel is excited to share tools and strategies that have helped him uncover hidden opportunities and intentionally design his academic and professional career path.

Fifty students participated in the event and learned about how to best utilize professional social media platforms for networking and gave tips on informational interviewing. Students walked away with a handful of best practices and that they could implement right away to grow their opportunities and network.
